Dennis Roth was an outstanding athlete at Lehighton High School where he played football, basketball, baseball, and track. He excelled in basketball and was Lehighton’s career points leader from 1953-1967.

Dennis continued his education and sports career at Muhlenberg College from which he graduated in 1957. He helped lead Muhlenberg to four successful basketball seasons and subsequently was named to the Muhlenberg College Athletic Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Roth began his career in education as a teacher and a coach at Lehighton High School, Whitehall High School, and Minisink Valley High School.

In 1966, Kutztown University hired Mr. Roth as a Professor of Physical Science. Some of the positions he held while at Kutztown included the Assistant Dean of Men, Director of Housing, and Acting Vice President for Student Affairs. He was also the assistant varsity basketball coach, head freshman basketball coach and the varsity track and field coach.

Dennis also played professional sports and was named to the All-Star Eastern Professional Basketball Association team in 1958 and 1960. In baseball, he was named to the All-Star Pocono Mountain Baseball League 1957-1962, and the All-Star Orange County Baseball League in New York in 1962.

While a coach at Kutztown University his track and field teams won seven PSAC championships. Dennis Roth was elected to the Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987 and to the Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
