Randolph “Randy” Rabenold

After serving four years during the Korean War, Randy enrolled at Kutztown State Teachers College where he received his degree in Art Education.

Randy began his career as an art teacher at Jim Thorpe High School that would span 37 years. He was named Teacher of the Year in 1983-1984 and Educator of the Year in 1992-1993.

Randy was a basketball coach for over 28 years who never cut a player from the team. The basketball court at Memorial Hall in Jim Thorpe bears his name, honoring him for over 50 years of service as summer league basketball commissioner. For his lifelong accomplishments and dedication to the sport of basketball, Randy was named to the Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame and the Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame. Over many years, he produced countless baptismal banners, cartoons, signs, banquet programs and covers for church, sports programs, and veterans’ organizations, including the American Legion and the AMVETS, where he was an adjutant at the Elwood Miller Post for over 60 years.
